The Traditional Quick Porridge or Puttu Mix!
"Vengarisi Maavu" is a classic Chettinad convenience food, a traditional "instant" mix made for a quick, wholesome meal. The name translates to "Roasted Rice Flour," but it's much more than that.
Our authentic mix is made by carefully slow-roasting rice and protein-rich split moong dal (paasi paruppu) until golden and fragrant. This blend is then stone-ground into a fine flour, which is now "pre-cooked" by the roasting.
This versatile flour can be used to make two classic Chettinad tiffins:

A Sweet Puttu: Simply steam the flour with a little water and salt, then mix the hot, fluffy puttu with grated coconut and jaggery or sugar.

A Savory Porridge: Cook the flour with water or milk, salt, and a pinch of cumin to create a quick, nourishing, and easily digestible porridge (kanji).
It's a light, nutritious, and comforting food, perfect for a quick breakfast or a light dinner.
